Hair Care
All
advertising for shampoos promise you hair which are smooth, soft, silky, tangle-free.
So you have a wide variety of brands which say that no matter what kind of hair you are
born with, these products will now transform your hair. All of us at some time or the
other start wishing for hair which are exactly like this. We are unhappy when
out hair are different, and if some of us do have this ideal hair, then our shampoo gets
the credit. Yet, no plants, even of the same botanical family, are identical. It raises a
question is it that nature is not co-operative; or do we need to re-examine our own
expectation that all of us can have hair just like that of our favorite model? Why is this
question so important? Because over years, thoughtful farmers have seen that tampering
with nature "may ring about disorder which cannot be undone".
In our desire to make out hair look different from how it naturally
is, we abuse it: artificial conditioners to leave it smooth and tangle-free; hair dryers
and perms to shape it; dyes to camouflage the effect of age; bleach and tints to add to
its glamour.
Most of us do not have roots which are strong enough to withstand this onslaught. Hair
fall, itchy scalp, dandruff are some common complaints. The texture of the hair changes
and we blame the products we have used, discarding them as unsuitable. Only to switch to
more harsh alternatives which offer better magic. The cycle continues.
And all this because we disregard just one fundamental law of nature that there is no
uniformity in nature. Nature is varied and it is dynamic. So is hair. let us be gentle to
our hair and leave it the way nature intended.
Not all of us are trying to change the way our hair looks. This does not mean that we do
not have any hair-related problems. The scalp is the most fragile of all our skin
surfaces. And our hair is the most efficient barometer of the way we take care of
ourselves. Dust, pollution, stress of life styles which have no time for leisure all take
their toll on the health of our hair. We have little time to look after our diet let alone
hair. Are we doomed to live with itchy scalps and lifeless hair? Is there no solution?
Anything born of nature does not need to be pampered. You just need to take care of it
simply. The same is true for our hair. It needs nourishment and it needs to be kept clean.
Healthy diet and regular massage of that is all it usually needs to be well nourished.
Hair must be washed so that the roots remain unclogged and the natural sheen of the hair
is not dulled with grime, dust and sweat. Keep it free of harsh chemicals which are alien
to your body. You will begin to see the difference yourself.
