Tips To Help An Infant Stop Crying

If you're lucky, very lucky, every child that you have will sleep peacefully through the night and smile continuously throughout the day. Reality is however, that most parents have infants that cry. Some cry more than others, but they all do it and they do it well! Some infants are easy to soothe and yet others are not. It's kind of like the game hide and go seek. You as the parent have to seek out the soothing source. Here are a few tips that might help

1. If lullaby tapes don't work, try the radio. Try different stations, you never know what'll work!

2. Lay your baby on a blanket on the clothes dryer while staying close to be sure the baby doesn't roll off. Or strap the baby in her car seat and place on the dryer (never leave an infant unattended on the dryer). The sound of the dryer as well as the warmth and rhythm seems to settle some children down.

3. Try letting your child sleep in the car seat. Some children prefer to sleep sitting slightly elevated rather than flat.

4. Try tape recording the vacuum cleaner, washing machine, dishwasher, or hairdryer. Some babies like this "white noise", it is constant and repetitive

5. If you have a foot massager place your baby on your lap while you use it. The constant rhythm lulls them to sleep. What a great excuse for a foot massage!

6. Take the baby for a ride in the car!!

7. Try placing a clock that has a ticking sound in the baby's room.
